Dear reader,
The navigation on this page starts with Journal. This section exists because I like watches. Probably more than is reasonable. But after spending enough time learning about them, it’s difficult to talk about watches for very long without eventually talking about something else. Design turns into art, manufacturing turns into economics, collecting turns into consumerism, and trying to figure out why anybody still wears a tiny mechanical clock on their wrist eventually turns into a question about our relationship with time itself. Watches give me somewhere to start. I don’t necessarily know where we’ll end up. If you have a criticism of me as a person, a writer, or a grifter please see this section for my most thoughtful content suitable for critique.
Reference is my attempt to organize the factual side of all this into something genuinely useful: watches, brands, movements, materials, manufacturing, finishing, history and whatever else I find that deserves an explanation. The scope of this section is ambitious, unfortunately I’m an idiot, so we’ll see how it goes.
Dispatch is for everything moving too quickly to deserve that kind of treatment: new watches, comparisons, collections and whatever else is happening at the moment.
Look something up or start reading. Getting distracted is sort of the point.
